French History 101

On July 14, 1789 a large number of French citizens, fed up with the oppression of the French monarchy, stormed the Bastille prison in Paris & set off the French Revolution.

Even today for the citizens of France, the storming of the Bastille symbolizes liberty &

democracy in the struggle against oppression.
