Our Spring Antiquing Tour Recap
Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting our very first Antique Buying Tour! A group of nine enthusiastic guests joined us in Paris for 5 days, shopping at all of our favorite antique spots in the French capital, learning Parisian floral design and embracing artisan shops and French cuisine.
In addition to antiques and French goods, we came back with unforgettable memories and new friendships made along the way. We’re thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Meeting the Group
Upon arriving, we gathered for a “meet and greet” and petit déjeuner at Sandra’s apartment in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in the 6th arrondissement (district).
The Hunt for Treasures
Our shopping journey began with a visit to La Foire de Chatou, a biannual event assembling antique dealers from all over France and Europe. Here, amidst the bustling atmosphere, we uncovered a treasure trove of pieces including paniers (wicker baskets), birdcages, and exquisite 18th-century gold mirrors.
But our exploration didn't end there. Throughout the week, we attended a diverse array of antique fairs, from charming weekly brocantes to exclusive venues and private ateliers reserved solely for professionals, leaving no stone unturned in our quest for unique finds.
Floral Workshop
In addition to our antique excursions, our guests had the opportunity to partake in a French bouquet-making workshop led by Adrienne Ryser at L’Arrosoir, Paris's oldest flower shop, adding a touch of floral artistry to our adventure.
Artisan Ateliers
Our shopping ventures also included local Parisian artisan boutiques. One of the highlights of our tour was the privilege of visiting the ateliers of Antoinette Poisson and Alix D. Reynis, where we gained insight into their craftsmanship, historical influences, and creative processes.
La Cuisine Française
Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Paris without experiencing the French cuisine! One of our many fabulous meals was at Le Procope, a brasserie founded in 1686! We took in the history and vintage décor there, and enjoyed traditional French dishes like coq au vin and escargot. Seeing Napoleon’s hat displayed in a glass enclosure was the icing on the cake!
Antiques & A New Tour
Stay tuned for an antique drop on the horizon... We’re preparing to unveil a curated selection of the treasures we brought back in our suitcases and can't wait to share them all with you soon! And before we know it, our container with even more antiques will be at our doorstep — something to look forward to this spring!
We’re also excited to announce the dates of a new tour this September! Take a look and let us know if you’d like to join us on a Parisian adventure!
A bientôt,
Sandra & Felicie
