Sandra's French-Inspired Book Picks

A couple of years ago, I shared some of my favorite floral, gardening and inspirational books in a blog post, which you can check out here.

I know how much you loved those book recommendations, so I decided to share a few of the newest French-inspired books I’ve fallen in love with!

Timeless Paris: Ateliers Emporiums Savoir Faire

by Marin Montagut

Marin Montagut is one of my favorite boutiques in Paris! It’s a small artisan shop where your eyes will feast on pastels, glass jars filled with pigments, old wooden furniture, scrolls and globes. It truly feels like walking into Monsieur Montagut’s creative mind. Around the shop, his artwork is displayed through different mediums: paper, fabric, porcelain, glass, etc…

After falling in love with his shop I was so eager to get my hands on his book, and it did not disappoint! Take a tour of Paris through his eyes, inside his favorite ateliers and artisan workshops, with complementary photographs along the way. This book is truly a piece of art!

The Flower Hunter: Seasonal Flowers Inspired by Nature and Gathered From the Garden

By Lucy Hunter

Vintage urns, floral masterpieces and garden tips are only some of the things you’ll find in Lucy Hunter’s new book The Flower Hunter. With her background as a landscape designer, floral artist and photographer, Lucy expertly captures the beauty of flowers. This book is filled with tips and tutorials, so you can learn more about growing flowers in your garden and recreate some pieces at home!

I recently had the privilege of meeting Lucy during her latest workshop at Jardin des Buis. The location was stunning, and it felt just like walking into her book!

Fromages: An Expert's Guide to French Cheese

By Dominique Bouchait

Can anyone truly contest that cheese is the unofficial emblem of France? Fair warning: this book will make you want to pour a glass of red wine, grab a baguette, and devour fromage.

Dominique Bouchait grew up in the South of France and has been a cheese monger from a young age. In 2011, he won the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) award, which means “best craftsman” and is considered by French chefs to be one of the highest honors. So, if you’re looking for cheese recommendations, he’s your guy!

Learn all about the origins of many types of French cheese in this stunning book, as well as where and how each is produced. With recommendations on food and wine pairing, you’ll truly become a cheese connoisseur!

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a bit about the authors behind these special treasures.

If you have any favorite books that have inspired you, I’d love to hear! Feel free to share in the comments below.

Happy reading!

xoxo,
Sandra
