The secret to this table is in the art of “mixing and matching!” You’ll notice we’ve used this technique for the first three items on the list.

1. Taper Candles

We love to combine candles on a table with different colors and textures. Here, we chose candles in shades of tan & brown, with both hexagon and twisted-rope shapes.  Not only did we vary the color and style of the tapers, but we also used unique vintage candlestick holders that we thrifted! They are all a brassy gold color but have different designs. This attention to detail is what makes a table interesting!

2. Brown Transferware Mix & Match

If we had to choose one antique to represent fall, it would have to be brown transferware dishes! A collection of platters, tureens and plates with different designs will help complete the look.

On this table we stacked three plates from largest to smallest. To make the transfer designs stand out, we used an off-white French hotel plate between the top and bottom transferware plates. Any plain plate in a white or cream color would work to break up the patterns!

3. Vintage Silver and Mother-of-Pearl Silverware

Mixing up the silverware adds a touch of fun and keeps your guests on their toes! Here we mixed vintage silver-plated forks and spoons with mother of pearl knives. We especially love the discrete “Paris” engravings on the knives.

“Mix & match” is not the only technique you can use to design your fall tablescape! Another way to complete the look is by adding interesting colors and textures.

4. Wicker

We’re loving the way the different wicker textures add a rustic feel to this French countryside table with small open-weave baskets, rattan placemats, and wine bottles encased in wicker! The colors also complement the brown and amber tones throughout the table.

5. Amber Glassware & Dishes

A touch of amber adds a bit of warmth to the table. Here you’ll notice it in the glass stemware and the vintage “hen on a nest” covered serving dish!

6. Dried Flowers

Dried florals are all the rave this fall! From wreaths with preserved grasses and herbs, to dried bouquets sprinkled around the home, we just can’t get enough.

These simple instructions to create a dried arrangement are easy to follow and will truly elevate the look of the table!

How to Create a Dried Floral Arrangement

Grab a bunch of your favorite dried flowers and a vintage garden pot. (Stop by the shop for a selection of dried bouquets.)

Cut the stem lengths to fit in the pot with the desired height. (Cut less at first – you can always cut more.)

Fill the negative space by stuffing craft paper to support the stems.

Decorate the top of the pot with moss to hide the stuffing.

And tada - you’ve created a dried floral arrangement! As a finishing touch, sprinkle a few other stems on the table to create a garland.
