Les Fleurs at the 2024 Newport Flower Show

Newport Flower Show at a Glance

Last month, the Newport Flower Show celebrated its 28th year, returning back to Rosecliff after a major restoration project. We couldn’t wait to see the results, and as you can see in the photos, the mansion and grounds looked pristine.

We were thrilled to show off our new slew of French antiques in a pop-up shop amongst the gardens, as well as join this year’s headliner Lucy Hunter for daily floral demonstrations!

We thank so many of you who came from near and far, despite the hot and humid weather! For those who couldn’t make the event, here’s a recap…

The Venue

The Rosecliff, one of Newport’s most famous Gilded Age mansions, was in rare form after undergoing extensive renovations. The roof, white terracotta facade, gilded doors and ballroom flooring were all replaced, preserving the historic style of the building. The restored gardens were also magnificent, providing the perfect setting for the event!

The floral and garden entries displayed inside the mansion were just as breathtaking as the ballroom itself.

The Les Fleurs Booth

This year, our double booth was brimming with French antiques, fresh from our latest shipment that arrived just in time for the show. We featured garden urns, patinaed commodes, bee skeps, bird cages, and stunning mirrors. Of course, we also showcased an array of beautiful plants and flowers, adding a burst of color and fragrance to our display.

The mixed dish gardens potted in antique cast iron jardinières were a big hit, as were vintage blue glass canning jars and French gilt-wood frames and mirrors.

Floral Talks

We were honored to have our dear friend Lucy Hunter as this year’s headliner. On each of the three days, Lucy and Sandra captivated audiences with their floral demonstrations, while sharing their expertise and artistry with the crowd. The lectures included stories of their differing backgrounds yet similar passion for flowers, plus a few details about their recent masterclass taught together.

Lucy shared details about her second Flower Hunter book, and a hint about her upcoming new project. Sign up on her website or follow her on Instagram to get details coming soon!

Each lecture and demonstration ended with author book signings. On the last day, Sandra and Lucy were featured with a live interview on WPRI’s local news television show, What’s Happening — see video below.

Connecting with You

One of our favorite parts of the show, as always, was meeting many of you in person. We loved hearing about your gardens, inspirations, and dreams of France. Your stories left us inspired and grateful. A heartfelt thank you to all our friends from Les Fleurs who visited us, and to the new friends we made over the weekend.

Merci,
Sandra and the Fleurettes

P.S. Stay tuned for more French antiques coming soon to our website…
