A New French Find
Alongside our collection of French antiques and vintage treasures, I’m always searching for new finds from France—especially pieces crafted by artisans who still work with time-honored methods. There’s something deeply special about goods that carry the spirit of their region and the soul of the maker’s hands.
You’ll find many of these products in the “French Artisan Brands” section of our website where we feature lines we’ve discovered on our travels across France—everything from hand-blown glassware and domino paper to porcelain tableware and whimsical papier mâché art.
What’s the newest arrival? Maison Pechavy.
The Story
Founded by Carine Pechavy in 2019, Maison Pechavy celebrates a century of her family’s wood-trading heritage. Inspired by the French art de vivre—especially the rituals surrounding firelight and gathering—Carine has created a line of home goods that are equal parts elegant, practical, and environmentally thoughtful.
Adding decorative items to enhance the ambience of the home, whether it’s for special gatherings or every day, is the essence of French living!
The Collection
Maison Pechavy’s pieces are designed to accompany life’s most comforting rituals: summer barbecues, evenings by the fire, quiet moments with a book, or cozy family time. At Les Fleurs, we carry an assortment of their beautiful fine taper candles, candle holders, and eco-friendly matches.
Fine Taper Candles
The “fine taper candles” are handcrafted in Provence using the ancient “plunge” method which gives them a thin conical shape. Like the other candles we carry, they’re smokeless and eco-friendly. The candles come in a box of 10 with varying soft color palettes meant to go with any décor.
We love the elegant look of adding a few different tapers to a table, in the same way we like to use an assortment of small bud vases.
Matches
A perfect blend of form and function, these matches are made from natural, untreated poplar wood with tips tinted in gorgeous hues to match the design of each box. Both the standard and long versions come in display-worthy boxes—ideal for styling on a coffee table or beside the hearth. They also pair beautifully with the coordinating fine taper candles, or our other varieties of candles for a thoughtful gift.
Scented Matches
The scented version of the long matches are already a store favorite, featuring Maison Pechavy’s signature fragrance with subtle notes of lavender and patchouli mixed with the woody scent of poplar.
Candle Holder Adapters
The solid brass candle holders can be used two ways—set flat on a table or riser, or used as an adapter so you can still display your favorite standard-sized candlesticks! We chose to carry the simplest design to add style to any tablescape, from rustic to modern.
Signature of Excellence
Beyond being made in France, Maison Pechavy candlemakers carry the prestigious EPV label. EPV, which stands for Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Companies), is awarded to French companies who embrace the heritage of French manufacturing, with unique craft skills and industrial know-how.
