Our Florals Featured In...

We, at Les Fleurs, have had the chance to design florals at some amazing venues throughout New England and beyond. The waterfront towns of Newport, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and the Boston Harbor Islands provide such beautiful scenery for a wedding. We also love working in the many historic sites throughout New England, with their classic architecture and old stories. We were thrilled to design florals for a wedding this past summer, held at the historic Boston Public Library. We were even more excited when the event drew the attention of the wedding media enterprise, Style Me Pretty.

Old world glamour says it best when describing one of Boston’s most historic landmark buildings. A reception at the Boston Public Library is what wedding dreams are made of, for the bride & groom as well as the florist! The building is full of exquisite details, beginning with marble floors, vaulted ceilings, sculptures and frescos, along with a courtyard surrounded by columns and arches.

The current site of the Boston Public Library was built in 1895 as a “palace for the people.” 100 years later, the National Park Service designated the building a National Historic Landmark, calling it “the first outstanding example of Renaissance Beaux-Arts Classicism in America.” We especially love that this style of architecture came from the legendary L'École des Beaux Arts (The School of Fine Arts), one of the oldest and most esteemed schools of architecture and design in Paris.

the ambiance

When the bride and groom came to us with their floral vision for the Boston Public Library we were overjoyed. It is always a treat to design florals there, with its grand staircase and overflowing bookshelves. We started the planning a year before the event with each detail outlined and discussed.

Their vision included a romantic color palette of white, ivory and blush to play against the rich dark wood in the library. We chose to adorn the grand staircase with garlands of green smilax & hundreds of candles, creating an enchanting look and feel that added a special touch to the wedding festivities.

Set on each long table in the grand hall were alternating tables of tall abundant centerpieces on glass pedestals and long garlands with tiny blooms of garden roses, peonies and hydrangea. Each place setting had a tiny vase with flowers that also served as their place card; this is a nice way to add extra flowers to the tables.

the wedding party

Gorgeous bridesmaids wore soft pink gowns and the groomsmen sported classic black tuxedos, making this an elegant affair. The beautiful bride’s flowy gown was paired perfectly with her loose hand-tied bouquet of ivory garden roses, ranunculus, ruscus, peonies, English stock and petite spray roses; the ivory satin ribbon tie was the icing on the cake.

Every detail came together perfectly - from the glorious setting and the heartfelt vows to the pictures taken in the park. The stunning photos in age-old Boston epitomize all that made this quintessential New England wedding so special.
