19th century large ironstone terre de fer serving plates with a dark blue daisy floral design on white earthenware with a patina showing its age and use. Made in the Gien faiencerie*. Sold individually.

Backstamp marking: Gien

*Faïence - terracotta earthenware covered in a white enamel using a tin glaze method, produced in France from the late 16th century until the end of the 18th century. The clay used in French faience can be seen in a tiny chip on the rim and on the underside ring.
