This French stoneware casserole terrine has a beautiful patina with a salt glaze in tones of rust and cream. Antique stoneware crock with the brand name “La Ménagère” written in blue and a milky white glazed patina. The name ménagère, which translates to “housewife,” refers to a canteen that holds cutlery. These heavy stoneware jars were once used for storing pate and conserve. Now they make a great soap dish or ring dish in any farmhouse style kitchen or bath. Note: initial photo is for example only.
